What It Does

Glass is the primary hazard in a blast event

In any explosion or blast event, the glass in nearby windows and facades becomes the leading cause of injuries. Glass shards travel at extreme velocity and penetrate far into occupied spaces. Blast protection film does not prevent glass from breaking — it prevents glass from becoming a projectile.

As the highest grade of our anti shatter film Dubai range, 12–15 mil blast film bonds to your existing glass and holds every fragment in place under sudden pressure change. The glass may crack — but it stays in the frame. No shards. No glazing debris. No secondary casualties from glass.

  • Holds glass fragments under explosive pressure waves
  • Dramatically reduces glass-related injuries in blast events
  • Retrofit installation — applied to existing glass, no replacement needed
  • Available in clear and lightly tinted — maintains building appearance
  • Meets international blast mitigation standards for commercial buildings

Where It's Specified

Blast film for high-risk properties across the UAE

Blast protection film is specified wherever glass failure in an incident would cause secondary casualties or represent an unacceptable risk.

Hotel lobby blast protection film UAE Dubai Hotels & Hospitality

Hotels & Resorts

Dubai's five-star hotel district, resort properties on the Palm, and conference venues hosting international events. Large lobby glazing and atrium glass represent significant blast risk areas. Blast film is increasingly specified as part of hotel security assessments — particularly for venues hosting diplomatic events or large public gatherings. View commercial window film →

Embassy diplomatic compound blast protection film Dubai Embassies & Government

Diplomatic & Government Buildings

Embassies, consulates, government offices and diplomatic compounds across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE. Blast protection film is standard specification for diplomatic glazing — providing a cost-effective, low-profile layer of glass hazard mitigation that does not affect day-to-day operations or building appearance.

Shopping mall commercial tower blast film UAE Malls & Towers

Shopping Malls & Commercial Towers

High-footfall commercial properties — shopping centres, multi-tenant office towers, event venues and exhibition centres across the UAE. Ground-floor glazing, entrance atria and perimeter glass in high-occupancy buildings is where blast film delivers the greatest life-safety benefit per square foot installed.

FAQ

Questions about blast protection film in Dubai

Does blast protection film make windows blast-proof?

No film makes glass blast-proof. What blast protection film does is dramatically reduce the hazard created when glass breaks under blast pressure. Without film, glass becomes high-velocity shrapnel — the primary cause of injuries in blast events. With 12–15 mil blast film, the glass may fracture but the fragments are held in place by the film membrane. The window remains in its frame. See our full safety film range →

Which buildings in Dubai need blast protection film?

Blast protection film is specified for buildings with elevated risk profiles — embassies and diplomatic compounds, major hotels and conference venues, government buildings, hospitals, critical infrastructure, shopping malls and multi-tenant commercial towers. It is also increasingly specified for high-net-worth residential properties. View commercial window film options →

What is the difference between 8 mil security film and 12–15 mil blast film?

8-mil security film is designed to resist sustained manual forced entry — it holds glass together after breakage and deters break-ins. 12–15 mil blast film is designed to retain glass under sudden pressure change from an explosion. The blast grades are thicker, have a stronger adhesive system, and are tested to specific international blast standards. For most commercial security applications, 8 mil is sufficient. For blast mitigation, 12 mil minimum is required.

Can blast film be installed without closing the building?

Yes. For occupied commercial buildings we work in phases — typically one wing or floor at a time — to minimise operational disruption. We can also work evenings and weekends. The installation process generates no dust, fumes or significant noise.

What international standards does the blast film meet?

Our blast protection film products are tested to EN 13541 (Resistance to explosive pressure), GSA-TS01 (US General Services Administration blast standard), and BS EN 356 (Manual attack resistance). Full testing documentation is available — download the SafetyShield Testing Matrix above or contact us for detailed specifications.

How much does blast protection film cost in Dubai?

12-mil blast protection grade film costs AED 100–125 per sq ft installed. 15-mil maximum grade is AED 125–150 per sq ft. Pricing depends on total glass area, building access, and film specification. We provide detailed quotations following an on-site survey. Request a consultation →
